Registering voters on Friday, October 3rd, 2008. Walked in to “Thrift Store” at Northern Lights Shopping Center to see if the manager would let me talk to the customers. While I was waiting, I approached an older woman, small, skinny, with that bleached blond hair that had turned yellow. Definitely worse for wear.
Me: “are you registered to vote ma’am?”
Her. “I am but I’m not voting for either of them. They are both … assholes.”
Me, with a bit of a smile, “well, I work for the Obama Campaign so I obviously disagree with you but …”
Her. “If he gets elected, he is going to destroy this country.”
Me. “Well, no … he’s not.”
Her. “We can’t have a Muslim running this country.”
Me. “Well, he’s not a Muslim.”
Her. “Yes he is.”
Me. “He’s not, not that there is anything wrong with being Muslim, but ma’am, thank you, take care …”
