"Vote for Change!"
We were told it would be a non-partisan event, and that we shouldn’t wear anything that indicated who we were voting for. But when we got there, our hair covered, all signs of our allegiance hidden, and walked up the pathway to the mosque it was obvious that this congregation was voting for Obama. The registration tables, the railings were all festooned with banners reading “vote for change!” And then the Iman: “I am not telling you how to vote (pause), I am not telling you who to vote for, (pause) I am not telling you how to vote (pause). If you are happy with the way things have gone in the last eight years, if you are happy with the status quo … vote for the status quo. If you are not happy with the way things have gone in the last eight years vote for change.”
