This is our moment!
It has been quite a week here in Denver, Colorado. Really, fantastic on so many levels, and I feel extraordinarily lucky to have been here to witness, soak it up, get swept away by the roar and the enthusiasm. Monday. Michelle. Tuesday. Hillary. Wednesday. Bill & Joe Biden. Tonight ... well tonight is the night as they say, and I for one am so, so glad that Barack Obama is giving his acceptance speech at Invesco. Seventy Five Thousand people, the majority of them not connected in any way with the Democratic Establishment. It is thrilling.
It has been interesting too to watch the way in which the media crafts the story. Being here and witnessing and watching and having my own perspective on what is going on and then listening (some, not a lot, as it has been absolute bedlam!) to the pundits tell the story the way in which they want to tell it. A case in point. Hillary I thought was tremendous on Tuesday night. Tremendous. But from the position where I was watching, way up in the rafters, looking out over this massive sea of people with Hillary / Unity signs, their roars soaring through the arena, there was a reporter, working on his script just in front of me. I couldn't help (unavoidable really!) reading over his shoulder as he wrote something along the lines of, "Hillary's speech was superb, strong, etc etc, so strong in fact that it will probably make her supporters wish that she was in fact the nominee instead of Barack Obama."
They just love to keep fanning the flames.
But yes Tonight. Invesco. I will be there with 75,000 people from all walks of life cheering on our candidate. I feel extraordinarily lucky to be there to witness.
This is the time for real change in America. This is the time to seize our moment... and run with it.
